Regenerative energy that is typically dissipated by a brake resistor can instead be absorbed and stored in a capacitor module. This energy can then be returned to the DC bus once the regenerative phase is over - saving energy and cost.
The PSI power supply/fieldbus interface module minimises machine footprint and simplifies the connection of a PSUP-series power supply module and a EtherCAT or CANopen fieldbus network with the single hybrid cable system used in the Servonet DC and Motornet DC servo systems. The electronics footprint is up to 70% smaller than traditional centralised solutions. Optionally it can generate the auxillary 48VDC power supply bus for use with the Motornet DC servo system.
